Supporting our communities through the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal

From droughts, fires, floods and COVID-19, Australians have faced it all this year. As we enter the holiday season our thoughts and well wishes go out to all of you.

We know from personal experiences many of us won’t be able to reconnect with loved this year and Christmas may look a little different from previous years, which is why giving back and creating a sense of community is so important to us as a business.

For the past two years, Invest Blue has continued to support The Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, making food and gift donations across our 19 locations. We ask Elyse Toomey from our People and Culture team, why supporting this charity is particularly important to her this year.

“2020 has been a tumultuous year for everyone across the country with COVID-19 impacting a lot of families and communities. Invest Blue has been fortunate enough to continue to help clients realise their goals and dreams, but also ensuring that all our people continue to work at Invest Blue.

We have had a lot of our people’s extended families impacted this year in light of COVID-19 and so we really wanted to be able to give back to our local communities at Christmas time.

Everyone is desperate for support right now so if Invest Blue can share through food and gift donations and bring even a little of those warm feelings that Christmas time brings, then we can say we have lived true to our own “we are family” core values in this time of need.”

This year we have seen a huge rally of support across the business with food and gift donations pouring in across all of our locations, which were delightfully received on 17 December.

Sarah Brown-Duthie from our Toowoomba team shares “I dropped Invest Blue – Toowoomba’s donations off for the Salvation Army Christmas Appeal, and they were very excited as they will be able to distribute to quite a few families in the region, and have been running low on donations this year”.

Working in the financial industry we directly understand the financial challenges and fears the last 12 months has presented to not only to our clients or direct families, but also throughout our local communities.

As a result, this year we will also be making a cash donation to the Salvation Army on behalf of our people and clients.

It fills us with great joy to be able to support such a wonderful organisation and we look forward to supporting The Salvation Army and the great work they do into the future.
